Mobile Telephony - Mobile phones have become increasingly popular not just as phones, but also as little gadgets that can take instant digital pictures. Camera phones have become exceedingly popular as users can take instant pictures anywhere anytime, with the click of a few buttons. Pictures taken via this method can be shared with another PC or mobile phone. But what good is a picture without words? Most camera phones may have high end cameras but attaching voice tags may result in consuming all of the phone’s memory. Most mobile phones do not allow more than 10-15 seconds of recording. This also hampers the phone’s use for thought capture. With the use of MASC a user can record up to 22 times more voice when compared to a standard wave file for the same amount of digital memory. This will enable users to use their mobile phones to attach voice tags to pictures, as well as for thought capture. - MASC has been ported onto TI’s C54x, 55x, and C64x platforms. TI chips are in about 72% of the world’s cell phones. - It is expected that in 2006, approx. 800 million mobile phone units will be sold. MASC value proposition
