Telematics

- Telematics has become very popular with luxury and high end cars. Today the telematics industry has grown tremendously from what it was five years ago. Voice recognition in telematics has become a key feature for navigation. Passengers can easily assign voice commands instead of pushing keys while driving, making driving safe and comfortable.

- Voice commands instructed to the telematics instrument are transmitted to the nearby satellite. This transmission of the voice commands can choke bandwidth space if the voice is not compressed enough. MASC can solve this problem as it does not only provide high compressed voice but also high perceptual quality.

- Some of these voice commands can be archived so that repeated instructions can be easily recognized. Archiving of large amounts of voice needs storage space and MASC, with its high quality voice and small foot print, can save storage space for archived voice files.

- MASC has been tested and is proven to be robust in noisy environments such as in cars for telematics applications. MASC has produced low Word Error rates compared to other competitive speech codecs as it filters out noise components in the voice efficiently making it suitable for voice recognition in telematics applications.
